Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What exactly IS a Fitness Camp?

A: That might be better answered, by telling you what a Fitness Camp is NOT: A Fitness Camp is not your everyday, run of the mill, come and go as you please type of exercise class. It’s a six-week commitment for women who are serious about their fitness goals, who are not afraid of hard work and who have the dedication required to meet their goals. Various Fitness Camps will be held throughout the year, each one being a little bit different.

Q: What is the Body Assessment and Goal Setting Session like?

A: Before the camp begins, each member will have a one-on-one body assessment and goal setting session to give me an idea of where you are physically and what you hope to expect from this experience. This appointment will be scheduled according to your needs and will take place at either the dance studio or my home gym - whichever you prefer. We will perform a body fat test, take your weight, get measurements and determine your BMI. You will also be asked a series of questions designed to ascertain your current athletic abilities. And finally, we will briefly discuss your fitness goals and establish a plan that will help you achieve them.

Q: Why have a nutrition class and what will be taught?

A: Working out fervently won’t do you much good if your eating habits aren’t top notch. However, I don’t believe you have to “diet” and feel miserable and hungry all the time in order to achieve the physique you want. You simply need to adopt a lifestyle of “clean eating”. I will teach you how to nourish your body with the best foods and give you helpful information on how to do that with your busy schedule. (Okay ladies, now here’s my disclaimer: I am NOT a registered dietician… although, one day I’d love to be! I am a certified personal trainer with a love and passion for nutrition. I have learned and studied food and the role it plays in our health for over 10 years. Everything that I teach in this class is based on my own experiences and opinions.)

Q: What are the workouts like?

A: Each workout session is just like what you would do in a Personal Training Session with me, except there are a bunch of fabulous ladies working out along side you. Two to three times per week, camp members will attend a full-hour workout class that will challenge the body from head to toe. We will work all of the major muscle groups through resistance, balance and plyometrics training.  Members are required to bring a yoga mat and a small to medium pair of dumbbells. (5-8 lbs)

Q: What is email coaching?

A: It’s not always easy to stay motivated and stick to your fitness goals, but members of the Fresh Start Fitness Camp will receive weekly emails from me designed to do just that. I will help you stay on track by reminding you of your goals and giving you the encouragement you need to reach them. You can expect to receive anything from healthy snack ideas to motivating quotes sent directly to your in-box each and every week which will keep you feeling enthusiastic about your fitness goals.
