Hey Shawna, I have mixed feelings about Splenda. I have read a lot of things saying that most artificial sweeteners are not healthy for so many reasons. {Not that sugar is either! ha ha ha!} However, whenever I go to buy the "raw sugar" that I've heard is best for you, it's so expensive, that I don't get it either! ACK!!!! I really need to do more research on this! Hey! Great idea for a new post! THANKS!

Liz, I know this is an old post an you may not get the comment...but I wanted to suggest Splenda instead of the sugar. I have stopped buying regular sugar all together and substitute Splenda (because I have read that it isn't bad like other sugar substitutes...correct if if I'm wrong!). I have never been able to tell in any of my recipes that it's not regular sugar. :)

Wow! That is so cool that I have a reader in Germany!! :) Very exciting indeed. Next time I'm at the health food store, I'm going to see if we have fig mustard here, or anything similar. Thank you so much for the suggestion.

hi liz, fruity mustard (my favorite is fig mustard) tastes great, not only in dressings. but if you never heard of it it might be something which doesn't exist in the us (i'm writing from germany). here you get it in organic foodshops or on farmers' markets. the taste of it mixes the spiciness of mustard with a hint of blended fruit.
but at least you know now that you have readers in germany!

Hi Julia,
I agree with you completely! ha ha! I've just never found a poppyseed dressing that I like besides this one, that doesn't have even worse ingredients added to it. {Hence, the warning to only add a teeny bit to your salad!} I do use honey as a healthy alternative, but never thought it would work in a dressing such as this. I'll have to give it a try. I've also NEVER heard of fruity mustard... that kind of sounds like a contradiction... where do you find that? Does it taste good? If so, that would be absolutely FABULOUS to find something that could take this dressing to a much healthier level! Let me know! :) And thanks for your comment.

hi liz, thank you for the great ideas. the only thing: 1/4 cup of sugar is a lot for the poor little dressing, don't you think? i take honey as a healthy alternative. or did you ever try a fruity mustard (like fig or orange mustard) in your dressing? with the fruity taste i need less extra sweetness.
