Mrs. Utah United States 2009
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again… I get to work with the most amazing women ever! A few nights ago, one of my clients, Karmel Larson, was crowned as Mrs. Utah United States 2009!
Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to attend the pageant… but as I watched the video clip of the moment she was crowned the new Mrs. Utah, I’ll admit… I was beaming with pride!
Karmel is an exceptional example of how to set goals… and more importantly, how to ACHIEVE those goals. In fact, there were many times in our personal training sessions, where she was inspiring me to BE BETTER and DO BETTER in my various roles as a mother, a wife, a trainer and a friend. I am completely convinced that she will do a marvelous job promoting her values and making our state a better place. Karmel is a down-to-earth, disciplined, soft-spoken, but very strong woman… and when I say strong, I mean that both physically and spiritually!
Karmel is the second wonderful woman I have had the opportunity to train who has competed in the Mrs. Utah pageant. Last January, Kelly King Anderson, founder of StartupPrincess.com, was my very first client EVER!! She had made a personal goal to compete in the Mrs. Utah pageant, as well as to completely transform her body! I’m happy to say that she succeeded in both of those goals! Kelly was crowned First Runner-Up to Mrs. Utah, 2008 and lost close to 10 pounds and 8 inches in just three short months! {Had my website been up and running at that point, I would have written a post about her success as well!}
In many ways, my website is what it is today, because of Kelly and her belief in me! There were many 6 am training sessions, {in my unfinished basement might I add}, where Kelly encouraged, taught, and guided me as I began my journey to help others with their health and fitness goals!
I’m telling you… every, single, client, that I have worked with since becoming a personal trainer, has positively influenced my life in one way or another. I sincerely appreciate the things each of them teach me – as we get to know each other through our training sessions!
I get so excited when I see my clients succeed with their goals! Whether it’s their health and fitness goals, their business goals or even their personal life goals! Whatever it is that they put their mind to, and work hard for… I always know that they absolutely, positively, DO have the power to achieve those goals… just like every single one of us can!

Hi Liz,
How awesome is this!! What a great feeling to help others achieve their goals in life – and you’re doing that! This is just one example of many. And I love how you acknowledge that not only are you helping them – in the process every one of your clients has helped you in some way also. What a wonderful wonderful gift of gratitude you’re sharing. And I’m sure this is a big reason why your clients work with you – your acknowledgement that it’s partially a two-way street. You have a heart of gold Liz, and that shines through so loud and clear in this post!
And a big congratulation to Karmel on being crowned Mrs. Utah – completely awesome!!
