Simple Way to Improve the Quality of Life
I’ve been doing a lot of studying lately on the benefits of aerobic exercise and came across some information written by William C. Beam, PhD. It sums up perfectly why everyone should include regular sessions of cardio into their schedules. He says:
“There is little doubt that a conscientious program of physical activity, especially aerobic exercise, significantly improves the health and wellness of the exerciser. What is more, evidence is mounting that the benefits of regular and continuing exercise can be enjoyed over an entire life span. It has been proven fairly convincingly that individuals who maintain an active lifestyle may actually add years to their lives while significantly enhancing the quality of life in later years as well. Physical activity reduces the premature, deleterious effects of degenerative diseases, especially cardiovascular disease. Individuals of all ages, from children to the elderly, should be encouraged to exercise. It is never too late to begin a regular exercise program, but the best time to start is usually now.”
Who doesn’t want to add GOOD, QUALITY, years to their life? I know I do! And hopefully you do too! The better we take care of our bodies now, the better our body will take care of us in the future. So if you are not currently doing at least 30 minutes of moderate aerobic activity 3 times per week or more, imagine how you want to feel in twenty or thirty years from now.
If you want to feel your best throughout your life, decide TODAY that you will be faithful in taking care of your body, your heart and your mind! Get active and get your heart pumping!

I’m all for this, because while I want to live as long as possible (so I can experience as much as possible) I don’t want to be restricted to a bed and have to take 20 pills a day (I can’t remember to take an aspirin now, when I have a headache, lol).

It burns me up when I’m counseling people about lowering their cholesterol or losing weight and they tell me, “what does it matter! We are all going to die of something!” I say, “Are you kidding!! Why not enjoy good health up until your death, instead of being sick and having your legs cut off because you let your diabetes get out of control….and then living 20 more years as an invalid.”

Great article..I have committed myself to workout twice a day…Once for an hour in the morning and once for an hour at night..I committed to do this for 2 weeks to see what a difference it can make. I am good about one exercise a day but I wanted to challenge myself..Anyway, I have successfully accomplished one week as of today..One more week to go and then time to set a new goal..Small little goals are easier to maintain and to keep going when the reward of achieving the previous goal has been met…
I feel GREAT!!!!

My dog has been a serious help in adding aerobic activity to my everyday routine. Chasing him around is some of the best exercise I’ve ever had!
Thanks for the reminder that exercise isn’t just about my current health (and to be honest, waistline), but my future health as well.

Hey Liz,
I’m a fan of improving quality of life.
While I don’t mind thinking, I really enjoy physical activity. Today, I was seriously missing playing dodge ball and kickball. I think I really enjoy activity that’s mixed with play or sport.

Hi Liz,
Great reminder! Through advances in medicine and the medical field, our lives already can be extended. However, at what cost? At the cost of the quality of that life we live. A natural approach of eating right and proper exercise – it good not only for today, but also for our future years ahead of us. And that’s a great reason right there to get out and be active!
