Year End Resolutions

Posted on October 25th, 2008.

With Halloween almost here, that means the HOLIDAY season will soon be in full force. And you know what that means… schedules chock full of festive parties, family gatherings, special programs and social events involving FOOD! And lots of it!

It really isn’t a surprise that most Americans put on an average of 5 pounds between the months of October to January and then make new years resolutions to lose those extra layers of fat once the holidays are over. But my challenge to all of you, is to make YEAR-END RESOLUTION… right now in regards to your health. Make goals for yourself that will keep you healthy, keep you fitting into your favorite pair of jeans and keep you feeling energetic and good about yourself from now until January!

Personally, I like to start a fresh new year already feeling GREAT about where I am. I hate feeling bummed on January 1st, and feeling like I’ve gone down hill and need to shape up many aspects of my life. Wouldn’t it feel better, if at the start of 2009, you could feel proud of yourself for making it through the holidays with self control and discipline? Wouldn’t you feel awesome if you stayed the same weight or even lost a few pounds during these crazy few months? Well you can!

If you want to look at yourself on January 1st and be happy with what you see, take some time TODAY and think of the reflection you want looking back at you in a few months. Write down exactly what it is you want and then make goals that will get you there! Then, to help you stick with your goals, share them with somebody else. Have someone that you can answer to! This is by far the hardest time of year to stick with health goals… not only because of the looming treats that are all around us, but because we are layering ourselves with more clothes, wearing long sleeve shirts and covering up our problem areas! It’s much easier to become relaxed with our health goals when we’re covered up like eskimos! But guess what? Swim suits start showing up in stores in February! Spring will be here soon after, and before you know it, we’ll be baring our arms and legs again for warmer weather.

So don’t wait until January to make your new years resolutions! Make year end resolutions now!

End 2008 with a smile on your face and your skinny jeans on your rear!

Not only will you feel proud of yourself for making it through the roughest months of the year (when it comes to your health) but for once, you won’t need to have: LOSE 5 POUNDS as your first goal listed on your New Years Resolution list!

I’m going to be working on my list of goals today and I’d love to know what YOURS are going to be! Leave a comment and let us know what your YEAR END RESOLUTIONS are!

My goal will be to do strength training at least twice a week. I love cardio, but when it comes to getting stronger, I flop. Seeing as how I’m not getting younger, I know it’s the best way to protect my bones.

Good point about starting now and not waiting until (after a few drinks ;) on) 12.31.
For me it is all about S.M.A.R.T. goals….

Well, I made my year end goals too and posted them on my bathroom mirror so I’ll see them often! I gave myself an incentive, and have to answer to my hubby. He’ll be keeping close tabs on me because the reward I’ll be getting is something he’ll have to pay for! ha ha! :) And believe me… I am completely planning on getting my reward! Wish me luck!

Great reminder. I too have this goal. My plan is to eat the food on the 2 days (Thanksgiving, and Christmas) but on all the other days when there is no special occasion, I will eat my usual healthy choices. Thanks for the post!
