Mid-week Motivation
Have you ever said something like this?
“On Monday, I’m going to start my new diet.” or “Starting Monday, I’m going to exercise everyday and work off all the calories I ate this weekend.” or how about this one, “On Monday I’m going to start going to the gym again.”

I wouldn’t be too nervous to bet, that MOST of us have uttered these words a time or two. Monday is such a great START OVER day. It’s the start of a new week, a start of a new day and it’s a wonderful chance to BE BETTER and DO BETTER with our diet and our exercise routines.
Have you noticed though, that usually by mid-week our good intentions have either worn off or are seriously struggling to stay alive? After two days of waking up faithfully at 5:00 am, we are a little tempted to hit the snooze button on Wednesday morning? Or on Thursday, you sneak a few cookies in after dinner because you’ve been so good all week long?
Yeah – I know how you feel. I’ve had weeks like that too, where I am feeling energized and pumped up to be healthy all week long and by Thursday I’m feeling pooped and I’m ready and anxious for Monday to roll around again.
(Yes, it happens to all of us!)
Well, I’ve come up with a plan, and I hope all of you readers of my blog will hop on board and join in. Each Wednesday will be MID-WEEK MOTIVATION DAY on my blog. I will post an entry that will hopefully inspire you, (and me too) to keep up your “healthy mentality” and will encourage you to stick to your health goals throughout the rest of the week. You know, kind of like tiding you over until Monday rolls around again and you have your own motivation to support you. It may be an entry, a quote, a video clip, a challenge – anything I can come up with to help encourage you to KEEP ON GOING!
Now, this is where I want YOU to join in. Each Wednesday, after I post the MID-WEEK MOTIVATION post, I want you to leave a comment, telling me, (and the rest of the readers) what YOU are going to DO for the remainder of the week to stay healthy. Basically, you will be posting your goals publicly to my other blog readers… and this little technique will help motivate you even MORE for two reasons:
1. When other people know your goals, it will encourage you to STICK to them and keep your commitment.
2. You will be charged up by others, who have also posted their health goals. You’ll feel like, “If THEY can do it, so can I.”
You can also view this little strategy as a way for you to ANSWER to someone else. I know that helps ALL of us. Just the other day, one of my clients told me that she was feeling worn out while exercising on her treadmill. She was so tired and wanted to give up… but, she kept on pushing herself because she could imagine my voice telling her to keep on going and to give it all she’s got. I was so happy to hear that! And I know that others could benefit from having that little “inner voice” too – telling them to keep on going and that they can do it! That’s why I came up with MID-WEEK MOTIVATION day.
I really hope you’ll join in on the fun and post your goals and commitments each Wednesday for all of us to see. I’m sure it will help you keep your momentum and get you through until it’s Monday again. Watch for this weeks FIRST MID-WEEK MOTIVATION post coming up on Wednesday. I’m so excited, and hope you are too!

I don’t know how you do it! The “want to be healthy” attitude that you have, I just don’t have that. I hate to exercise. Even when I climb on the treadmill my mind wanders to all the things I should be doing instead (housekeeping, laundry, mowing, studying) and I quit early out of guilt.
Although I never got rid of my soft baby belly after my 4th child, I’ve never been overweight. But right after Christmas, my high metabolism that I have had my first 33 years of life decided to say goodbye, and I have put on 10 pounds that will not go away. I would like to lose 15 total, and 5 by the end of August. I’m hoping reading you and your comments will keep me motivated, but it will be hard for someone who dislikes exercise like me. LOL!

You know how Mom’s never take time for themselves because we always have this and that and millions of errands….Well, exercising for an hour is MY TIME…Granted it’s not a bubble bath, or a massage from the spa…But, this is MY time. It always takes me about 15 minutes to really get the adrenaline going and by the time I’m done with my workout I feel so good…
I’m a morning person so getting my workout up and going and done by 7:00a.m. isn’t a problem.
To all those reading…Really *SEE* how your body feels when we eat the *WRONG* things and then test your *BODY* and write down how your body feels when we have put *LESS* in our tummies and how good we feel when it feels slightly empty. Then write down the feeling you get when you notice your clothes are feeling slightly bigger. It’s definetely my motivation. If you seriously try this for one month and notice your clothes a bit looser then the motiviation to exercise really becomes a big fun thing to do…Almost like a game!!
This may not help ANYONE but I have been exercising at least 6 days a week faithfully since January 1st of this year..
I feel amazing and exercising NOW is like brushing my teeth…
Get the routine NOW so that when Fall hits and yummy delicious baking food comes into play…We can already be on a good solid base…
Good luck

Great post and it’s sooo true. In my opinion people have a Sunday night and Monday morning split personality! It’s soo easy to get motivated and excited Sunday night but then when the morning comes there is a whole different person there who just wants to stay warm and hit that snooze button. I like your Wednesday motivation idea and look forward to reading more.
